Dr. Ruth Cox, Dr. Kevin Kelly Demand for electronic portfolios, or ePortfolios, in educational settings often begins as an organic process that then evolves into a challenge to maintain and grow as a program- or campus-wide effort. This chapter describes what it takes--and how long it takes--to implement an ePortfolio initiative at the program or campus level. Issues to consider include assessing the need for ePortfolios across an entire campus; preparing for different phases of the initiative, moving from investigation to pilot to implementation; and focusing on ePortfolio-related teaching and learning strategies. The chapter also includes guidelines and resources, such as the top ten questions for faculty or departments considering the use of ePortfolios.
